The Cheese Market in Alkmaar, Netherlands

The Dutchbites Story

Dutchbites was started by Amaya and Mik, a Dutch couple who moved to the United States from the Netherlands 26 years ago.

Like most Dutch families abroad, we always packed Dutch cheese in our suitcases and shared it with friends and neighbors. When we moved to Gulfport, we kept the tradition going, sharing good Dutch cheese with old friends and new ones. Everyone loved it.

So we decided to bring a little more to the Gulfport Market, just as an experiment. We had no vendor experience, but as a former chef, I know good food when I taste it. Ten months later, our cheese is at four markets. We're so grateful to everyone who comes back week after week. You're the reason we keep going.

Where the cheese comes from

Our cheese doesn't come from big factories. It comes from small family farms in The Netherlands, which often band together in cooperatives. We buy directly from those cooperatives, so you get cheeses you won't find in local stores, and the small farms that make them get supported in return.

What's next

We're growing the import side of the business so we can bring you more varieties. Our rule is simple: we only sell cheese we truly love and can't easily find here. Maybe a cheese shop of our own someday? Who knows.

For now, we're looking forward to a bright cheese future, and we'll keep bringing you the best of the Netherlands.
